An individual who chooses to drink and drive endangers not only their life, but also the lives of other drivers and passengers on the road. A 45-year-old man was recently killed when an alleged drunk driver crashed head-on into the man's motorcycle.
The fatal accident occurred on a stretch of Tennessee highway around 5 p.m. when a 46-year-old driver's vehicle crossed the center line. At the same time, a 45-year-old man was traveling on his motorcycle in the opposite direction along the two-lane highway. The 46-year-old driver's vehicle collided head-on with the motorcycle.
The 45-year-old motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in the crash. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he died as a result of his many injuries. Police suspect the 46-year-old driver who caused the accident was drunk at the time of the crash.
The 46-year-old was previously charged with DUI and was out on bond at the time the fatal accident occurred. Police are awaiting results of toxicology and blood-alcohol tests taken after the accident.
Sadly, due to the negligent acts of one driver, a young husband and father lost his life. In addition to criminal charges, the family of the 45-year-old deceased man may also chose to file a wrongful death lawsuit.
While obviously nothing can ease the pain associated with the tragic and sudden loss of a loved one, a wrongful death claim can help a family deal with financial burdens. Medical bills, funeral costs and lost wages are all financial obligations for which a grieving family is responsible. A wrongful death lawsuit can help a family recover compensation to meet these financial obligations, allowing family members to grieve in peace.
