TENNESSEE TITAN TIGHT END FIGHTS TO END DRUNK DRIVING

Drunk driving accidents are a substantial concern in Tennessee, particularly because they are entirely preventable. Many public figures such as celebrities and professional athletes use their fame to try to increase awareness about this serious issue. In some cases, the efforts of these celebrities are fueled by a personal experience involving the loss of a loved one.

During this past Super Bowl, Tennessee Titans’ Delanie Walker spent time promoting safe driving. The issue hits close to home for Walker, whose uncle and aunt were the victims of a fatal drunk driving accident on Super Bowl Sunday in 2012.

Since this tragic accident, Walker has been partnering with Mothers Against Drunk Driving to combat drunk driving. He is the only professional football player who is doing so. His message includes warnings against the human cost of drunk driving, but also emphasizes that DUI charges can carry serious penalties. In Tennessee, this can include a breathalyzer test that must be passed in order to start a vehicle. In addition, DUI convictions may also involve driver’s license suspensions, community service hours and jail time.

Big sporting events like the Super Bowl, World Cup and the World Series can be a lot of fun, but they can also lead to large numbers of drunk drivers on the road. This can result in serious accidents that leave victims with severe injuries, psychological trauma and property damage. If you have been hurt in such an accident, you may benefit from discussing your legal options with an attorney. This can help you determine whether civil litigation may be a good choice for you.
